Biography - Markéta Irglová
Markéta Irglová (born in Valašské Meziříčí, Czech Republic, on 28 February 1988) is a Czech-Icelandic musician, songwriter and actress. She starred in the film "Once", which earned her a number of major awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly", with co-writer and co-star Glen Hansard. Since 2006, she has recorded with Hansard as The Swell Season.
Irglová began playing the piano at the age of seven and the guitar at nine, when she started learning songs by ear.
